There is a monthly minimum water bill for up to 2,000 gallons of water. After that, the water increases every 100 gallons. Sewer charges are based on water usage. If you have questions, you can always contact the water department at 217-324-2022.

You can pay your water bill by the following options:

• Online payments
• Pay at City Hall in person or by using the dropbox
• Pay by debit or credit by calling 217-324-2022. There is a $3 charge for this service
• Set up an account with Payment Service Network to pay your bill each month
• Sign up for direct payments for a monthly deduction from a checking or savings account 

You may call the Water Department at 217-324-2022 to set up service or complete the required form online. To disconnect water service, please call the Water Department at 217-324-2022.

There is a $100 deposit and $25 activation fee to begin service.

City-wide clean-up is generally held in April and October. Please call the Mayor’s Office at 217-324-8151 to confirm the date.

There is currently no recycling facility in the area. Please call the local waste provider for additional information on recycling options.

Residents can install the sidewalk themselves and be reimbursed $1.50 per square foot by following City guidelines and upon approval from the Street Superintendent. The resident must email L Montgomery to see if funds are available. Or resident can request to be put on a waitlist, which may take several years to complete. Send inquiries to L.
