The City of Litchfield Fire Department will begin fire hydrant flushing on June 13th in the areas north of Route 16/Union Avenue. The crews will proceed east and west of State Street, continuing until complete. Once the north end of town is finished, the same process will be followed on the south end of town.
Once it is started, the flushing process will be done Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. This procedure does cause some turbulence within the water mains. This may cause cloudy water, but the water will remain safe to drink. If you have any further questions or concerns, you may contact the Litchfield Fire Department at 217-324-8171.
