16th Ave. Street Closure March/April, 2023

N. 16th Ave., between Eagle Ridge Drive and Rugby Trail, will be closed in late March or April, 2023 for approximately 3 months to replace culvert .

Street Closure Notice and Construction Project Update

In late March or April of 2023, the City of Litchfield, in conjunction with the Illinois EPA, will be constructing a sediment retention pond in the 4100 block of N 16th Ave between Eagle Ridge Drive and Rugby Trail. This project will help extend the life of Lake Lou Yaeger by trapping and preventing nearly 425 tons of sediment from entering the lake every year. During this project, a 96” culvert that runs under N 16th Ave. will be replaced with a new culvert and a concrete overflow structure on the north side of the road.

In doing this project, contractors will need to completely close off traffic in this area for approximately 3 months. Residents living around Solar Circle Drive and Weeks Lane will need to use a detour route using Stratmeyer Trail to N. 17th Ave and Rugby Trail. The contractor will get this completed as fast as the weather allows them.
