Fire Investigation
The state of Illinois requires that all fires be investigated to determine their cause and origin. The Fire Department's Investigation Team has three investigators, one of which is an arson investigator who can arrest those suspected of starting a fire.
The investigations can determine if a fire is due to criminal activity or faulty equipment.
Other Teams
The Litchfield Fire Department also has teams that specialize in investigating and handling hazardous material and in underwater recovery and rescue.
