Since it's founding in 1853, the Litchfield Police department has lost two officers in the Line of Duty:



Officer William Hill Coulter - End of Watch May 8, 1932- Officer Coulter was shot and killed as he and his partner responded to a burglary on progress call at a local residence. Officer Coulter is memorialized on Panel 47, Line E-11 of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.



Officer Larry Wayne Berkshire - End of Watch September 22, 1971- Officer Berkshire was killed when he was thrown from a horse while attempting to return the animal to it's owner. Officer Berkshire is memorialized on Panel 6, Line E-20 of the national Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C.



This page is dedicated to the memory of Officers Coulter and Berkshire and all Law Enforcement Officers who have given the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. They gave their lives so that others may live.
