Waste Water Treatment Facility

The City of Litchfield recently completed construction of a new wastewater treatment facility. The new facility is an activated sludge process designed to treat an average daily flow of 2.14 million gallons per day (MGD) and a peak flow of 5.35 MGD. The excess flow facilities are designed to hold 14.32 million gallons (MG) before chlorination and discharge.

Litchfield�s wastewater treatment facility is operated and maintained by Environmental Management Corporation (EMC). EMC has five employees staffing the facility 8 hours per day, seven days per week. One employee is present on weekends and holidays. The facility�s hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the week and 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on holidays.
