| News Title | Freedom of Information Act and FOIA Officers |
| The Freedom of Information Act is a state statute that provides the public the right to access government documents and records. The law provides that a person can ask a public body for a copy of its records on a specific subject and the public body must provide those records, unless there in an exemption in the statue that protects those records from disclosure (for example: records containing information concerning trade secrets or personal privacy). All FOIA requests must be put in writing to one of the FOIA officers listed below and submitted either by mail, personal delivery, fax or e-mail. When sending the request, please mark on the envelope, fax or e-mail that this is a FOIA request. Your request must include your name, address, the date and daytime phone number so we can contact you if we have any questions regarding your request. Please provide as much information as possible in your request on the subject matter as this will expedite the search process. The first 50 pages of a FOIA request are free of charge.
