Free weatherization specialist training program offered to Montgomery County residents



LITCHFIELD A free program to train weatherization specialists will be offered in November and December by Lincoln Land Community College-Litchfield, in partnership with the City of Litchfield Economic Development Commission, Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation and the Job Center of Litchfield.



Applications for the program are currently being accepted. There is no fee to participate, and the program is open to Montgomery County residents who are 18 years or older, have earned a high school diploma or GED, are drug free and able to score a minimum of 8.0 on the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) math test and 7.0 on the reading test.



Orientation sessions for the program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., at LLCC-Litchfield. Classes will be held Mondays through Thursdays, Nov. 4-Dec. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Successful program completers will become certified whole house leakage control installers through the Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification program. Students will also receive math training, business skills training and OSHA 10 certification.
